A man suspected of stabbing his wife led police on a 40-mile chase throughout North Texas Thursday night.
Dallas police arrived at about 9:30 p.m. to a home on the 6100-block of Howard Avenue at Lasca Street.
Police found a 26-year-old woman collapsed in the yard with stab wounds to her neck, chest and stomach.
Officers said the man had a knife to his neck and refused to cooperate with officers. He then hopped into his car and led police on a 40–mile chase from Dallas to Fort Worth.
The chase ended on Interstate 30, west of Montgomery Street, when officers put out stop sticks that blew out the vehicle’s tires and caused the driver to crash into a light pole. Authorities said the man was taken to the hospital for multiple self-inflicted wounds.
The attack started as a domestic disturbance, police said.
There were two children in the home at the time of the stabbing, but weren’t hurt, police said.
The woman, whose name has not been released, had to have emergency surgery for her injuries and is in stable condition in ICU.
The man could face a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
