I have to say I am beyond shocked to hear that a study funded by the CDC and released this past Monday (5/7/2012) projected that by 2030, 42 percent of American adults will be obese, compared to 34 percent today, and 11 percent will be severely obese, compared to 6 percent today. It goes on to say that another one-third of American adults are overweight! So this means that two-thirds of our population is considered overweight or obsess. Then I nearly fell off my chair to find out that one-third of children aged 2 to 19 are overweight or obese. This clearly is not just a problem but an epidemic!!
So what can you do:
- Think before you eat – just because it tastes good doesn’t mean it's good for you.
- Make smart food choices – lean proteins, veggies, fruits and water are always good choices.
- Get up and move – even walking 20 minutes a day can help!
- Find a friend to be your workout buddy – this way you can keep each other in check and push each other when you want to give up.
- Parents – you are setting an example for your kids so if you don’t eat properly your kids won’t either and you are just perpetuating the cycle.
- BELIEVE – this is the most important…you can do it and if you just believe in yourself you can accomplish anything!!
Together we can kick obesity to the curb and become a healthier nation!
